UROLOGY

INFECTION OF URINE OR CYSTITIS

Urinary infection or cystitis is the acute or chronic inflammation of the urinary bladder caused by a bacterial infection. The most frequent cause of urine infection or cystitis is E. coli infection.

For a bacterium to produce urine or cystitis infection, it must first colonize the urine from the bladder and subsequently produce an inflammatory response in the bladder mucosa.

About 50% of all healthy young women who suffer their first infection will develop a second infection in a period of 6 months.

Achieving a healthy microbiota in the vaginal, perianal and in the last region of the rectum is essential to avoid recurrent urinary infections or cystitis.
