UROLOGY

INFECTION OF URINE OR CYSTITIS

Urinary infection or cystitis is the acute or chronic inflammation of the urinary bladder caused by bacterial infection. The most frequent cause of urine infection or cystitis is E. coli infection.

For a bacterium to produce urine or cystitis infection, it must first colonize the urine from the bladder and subsequently produce an inflammatory response in the bladder mucosa.

About 50% of all healthy young women who suffer their first infection will develop a second in a period of 6 months.

Achieving a healthy microbiota in the vaginal, perianal and in the last region of the rectum is essential to avoid recurrent urinary infections or cystitis.
